Our History

The Consortium for Medical Device Technologies (CMDT) was established between AUT, Universities of Auckland, Canterbury and Otago, Victoria University of Wellington and Callaghan Innovation 12-years ago. More recently, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora joined this partnership.

The CMDT has successfully established a MedTech innovation ecosystem for New Zealand. Today, the CMDT is a foundational partner supporting Medtech-iQ Aotearoa to take innovative research into commercial applications that address unmet health needs.
