Researchers Engaging Medical Technology Innovation
As a researcher you may have identified an opportunity for novel medical technologies, or want to join the growing number of researchers developing them in Aotearoa.
Collaborate
There are a number of networks and forums for you to participate in, to understand the Med Tech sector in Aotearoa.
To get an initial understanding of the sector, you can start by contacting one of the research groups at the heart of Med Tech innovation, see our showcase page for these.
Learn
Medtech-iQ provides a window into Med Tech activity across Aotearoa, so please review our News and Events pages. We also recommend:
- The Good Clinical Podcast, starting with the experience of Dr Maddie White, on the role of translational scientists in creating real world impact.
- Caffeine Daily provides a great overview of local innovation and start ups generally.
- Sign up for the Med Tech Bites newsletter that provides updates monthly, on activity in our Med Tech Sector.
- Join us at our Health Tech Week, which runs in June every year in Auckland. Keep an eye on our Events page for details and registration.
Grow
If you have a med tech opportunity that you'd like to take from research and grow into a business, the translation service of Te Titoki Mataora provides both funding, upskilling, networking, and other support services. These are available to research partners, which include most NZ Universities. This programme encourages clinician/researcher collaboration for the development, testing and translation of ideas into Med Tech businesses. You can find out more here.
